IMI was founded in 1987 and is a privately owned company specialized in the shipping, handling and marketing of gypsum and cement products, as well as a variety of other building and industrial related bulk materials.

IMI charters over 80 vessels per year from 2,000 tons to Panamax size and operates primarily self loading and self discharging vessels to ensure the most cost effective loading / discharge of cargoes.

IMI markets over 4,000,000 metric tons per year of natural and synthetic gypsum, cement, clinker, granulated blast furnace slag, bauxite, iron fines, limestone, pet coke, coal, aggregates, industrial and food grade salt.

IMI expertise encompasses the coordination of the whole logistical supply chain from the overseas export facilities to the final receiving operations of IMI's customers, including cargo purchasing and financing, chartering oceangoing vessels and unloading operations.
